Pups & Cups Dog Cafe

Image
Ever since I had Sherlock, my Balinese tomcat, I have fully convinced myself that I am a cat person. However, after visiting this dog cafe in Las Pinas recently, I seem to have rekindled my love for dogs. Must I choose which one gives the better furry feel? It was a Sunday afternoon in May, the day which Jancee and I chose to visit Pups and Cups Dog Cafe in Las Pinas. We used public transport so it took about an hour of bus ride from the Alabang South Station to the University of Perpetual Help System in Dalta, Las Pinas and a swift tricycle ride to Pups and Cups. We were hungry by the time we arrived and their food and drinks selection seemed interesting, but after just one look at the doggies we could not just waste any more time. So, after paying for the entrance fee and consuming the free drinks that came with it, we jumped right into the furry pit. (But for your benefit, dear reader, here are the photos I took of their menu.) Oh well, yes, before that, we were s

Spelunking @ Calinawan Cave

Everybody loves going on nature trips, but they can get harsh. Think of any nature experience: hiking, swimming, bunjee jumping, boating, they all have this one common "grim" denominator: – sun exposure. Call me delicate if you will but I do take caution seriously when it comes to risks on getting skin cancer, or even simple sun burn. Also, it’s just one day of swimming, but why would it have to take half of the year before I get my  color back! People who don’t get dark as easily as I do could be so lucky, because whether you admit it or not,  lighter skin DOES make a difference in this country. Plus it really sucks picking off skin scabs and getting a burned nose all week. Which is why I have been so happy to share an experience I had with nature where I had an unimaginable total fun but without the macabre sun exposure. I am talking about - spelunking!  Unlike most other nature trips, visiting caves gives you the least, or even up to zero exposure to the  harmful

Unlimited Korean Barbecue at Matgalne

Jancee and I recently gained new friends - new teammates on our work and they are all into the Korean hype: K-pop, K-dramas, K-fashion, name it, they relate to it. I am not into those things in particular, but I do dig Korean food. So they needed not to invite me twice into their samgyupsal soiree. For this, the guys chose Matgalne, a Korean restaurant in Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. The Place     No trouble at all reaching the place. It's near Century Mall where you can meet up with friends if you need to, as was our case. There was limited place for parking. We went on a Saturday night, so I was not really sure if we could make it. As of this writing, Korean restaurants are so in demand (especially on weekends) it's actually part of our plan to go to an alternate place if one Korean restaurant is jampacked. I guess we were lucky this wasn't the case, because we arrived pretty late at the place, around 8:00P.M. Even so, there were no more tables available ins

The SM Skating Experience at the Mall of Asia

There may be no chance in my lifetime that there will be snow in Manila, so ice skating was just one of the things I dreamed of doing when I was younger, mainly because of Disney. I never really acted upon making it a reality because for one, there weren’t enough adventurous people around me to try it with. Second, I’ve always known it was pricey (I was younger then, so I didn’t have my own money). Also, I’d seen rinks when I walk around the mall and these rinks appeared crowded. Add to that the huge amount of onlookers who laugh at people who fall or didn’t appear to be doing good on the rinks. Well, I didn’t want to disgrace myself by being one of the people they laugh at.   So I’m really thankful for having my babe Jancee who not only is good at everything, he also makes any situation comfortable for me, so it was the perfect time. But the main reason I even thought about trying it was when I saw this ad on Facebook by Metrodeal which offered discounted vouchers for a wh

Bengal Brew / Wolf & Bear

So you don't have a dog or a cat right now. But you've had one once, in your early childhood and you've never since really asked your parents to go get you a new one again until you're all grown up. These days, however, you've been seeing yourself watching cat and dog videos all day and until 2:00 A.M, even sharing them with friends and family. You've finally decided to visit a cat and dog cafe and see for yourself if the rave is real and what it's all about. I grew up in a household whose habitants treat cats almost as nicely as how people treat rodents and cockroaches. Why, they're all looking and acting the same way - grimy, smelly, they barge in uninvited, steal food, piss on your clothes, give birth to their offsprings on your shoe boxes. They simply just weren't welcome. However, something otherworldly happened at Bengal Brew / Wolf & Bear in Cubao. This was the first time I ever held a cat and had one sitting on my lap. It was
